When it was first released in 1963, the Firebird was Gibson's first neck-through model, and it has since been used by musicians across a wide range of genres, including blues legend Johnny Winter, Keith Richards and Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music, to name just a few. This updated guitar offers the features of the vintage Firebird at an affordable price.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan dir=\"auto\"\u003eRetro-inspired features include a 9-ply mahogany and walnut neck-through with mahogany \"wings\" on either side. This manufacturing method allows the tuning machines, pickup, and bridge to be anchored in the same pieces of wood for exceptional resonance, sustain, and tone transfer between them. The neck features a SlimTaper rounded C-shaped profile with smooth edges for a well-worn, comfortable feel. The rosewood fingerboard is adorned with trapezoidal mother-of-pearl inlays and has 22 medium-wide frets. Even the side markers are the same size and position as on the original Firebird.
