The 4488 CORE+ from DPA is a lightweight cardioid headset microphone with an advanced, completely adjustable, stainless steel headset mechanism. The visually discreet, dual-ear design offers a very comfortable wearing experience for presenters and performers while providing broadcast-quality sound up to the demanding standards of theater, TV, and live event professionals.

The 4488 fits the wearer by using 3-point ear grips with spring mechanisms that grip comfortably above and below the ears and to the side of the head for added security. The 2-way adjustable boom system—length and height—features an anti-rotate mechanism that makes it easy to position the tiny 5mm mic capsule for optimal sound quality. A sliding lock mechanism secures the boom positioning. In addition, the 90° cable management system safeguards the cable from stress and directs it down the wearer's back, where it can't be seen.

DPA's CORE+ technology is at the heart of the electret-condenser capsule, providing an ultralow noise floor and wide dynamic range. With an SPL rating of 134 dB RMS, the microphone is more than capable of handling loud speakers, vocalists, and presenters to deliver clean, transparent, and reliable sound for critical performances and presentations. The 4488 CORE+ is powered by 5 to 10V plug-in power from a wireless transmitter.

Sennheiser: works with Sennheiser transmitters equipped with a locking 3.5mm connector, including the Evolution (ew), XSW-D, and SpeechLine (SL) Series.
The modular design allows you to adapt the 4488's MicroLock connector to a wide variety of transmitters simply by purchasing the compatible adapter—saving you the expense of buying another microphone.

MicroLock for Secure, Dependable Connections

Built to withstand the rigors of long-term everyday use, DPA's MicroLock system features an easy-to-use, secure, and wear-resistant locking connector specially engineered to minimize accidental disconnection and ensure reliable performance. The compact design is well suited to situations where space is limited and a visually discreet solution is preferred.

MicroLock is fully backwards compatible with the MicroDot connection; MicroLock parts can be assembled with MicroDot parts and function as if they were of the MicroDot type. Please note that the locking function is only available if both the male and female parts are MicroLock.

Normal Headroom for Standard Speech

The 4488 CORE+ features a sensitive 5.4mm electret-condenser capsule designed for standard speech and vocal applications at levels up to 134 dB SPL RMS and 137 dB SPL peak before producing < 1% distortion. The mic can even handle up to 144 dB SPL with only 10% distortion, making it well suited to a variety of presenters and performers.

More Range, Less Distortion

Microphones with CORE+ provide even more clarity across the entire dynamic range, from low to high sound pressure levels. Miniature microphones with CORE+ provide unheard levels of openness. While CORE allows mics to handle higher SPLs without significant artifacts up to 1% THD, CORE+ eliminates those artifacts completely.

Cardioid Polar Pattern

The mic's cardioid pickup provides excellent off-axis rejection in high-SPL situations and efficiently suppresses distant sound sources—making it perfect for demanding live performance environments where background noise and feedback are concerns.

Two Boost Grids Included to Tailor High Frequencies

The pre-fitted Soft-Boost Grid gives a 3 dB soft boost at 8 to 20 kHz range. Alternatively, the High-Boost Grid introduces a 10 dB boost around 12 kHz for applications where additional top-end high-frequencies are desired. Both grids are made of tough and scratch-resistant anodized stainless steel, allowing them to be detached and cleaned.

A Secure and Comfortable Headset

One-Size-Fits All, Adjustable Frame

The 4488 headset frame is made of stainless steel and treated with a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating that makes it extremely durable. It can tolerate high temperatures and is resilient against impact and abrasion and is IP58-certified for dust and moisture resistance.

The frame is one-size fits all with a simple adjustment mechanism for quick and easy resizing. Anatomically correct, it fits snuggly and comfortably around the head thanks to its unique shape. The entire mic has a pleasant matte look due to the coating, making the entire headset look small and less obtrusive than other headset solutions. Furthermore, it adds nothing to the size of the microphone, as the PVD is extremely durable but at the same time extremely thin.

2-Way Adjustable Boom

The boom can easily be adjusted, so that it sits perfectly at the corner of the performer's smile (the optimal placement of a headworn mic). Not only can the boom be extended / shortened, but it can also be pivoted up and down at a fixed point below the ear (no more bending the boom). An anti-rotating mechanism designed into the boom shape, prevents it from rotating. A sliding lock system ensures that the boom is locked into the desired position.

The entire boom can be detached at a point below the ear and moved from the right to left side of the frame. DPA has also added a service connector at the end of the boom pole, so that the boom and cable can be replaced independently if needed. The service connector is well-protected by a plastic cover that slides over the gold-plated connectors.

3-Point Ear Grips and 90° Cable Management System

The ear grips feature truly impressive technology. Most headsets have either a 1- or 2-point gripping system—resting on top of the ear or (sometimes) gripping below the ear. This headset relies on a 3-point gripping system—adding a support area behind the ear pressing gently inward.

The headset has its cable guide directly at the back of the headset frame, so that you can easily organize the cables to run unobtrusively down the back of the performers. The cable guide slides from side to side, so it can be moved out of, for example, the camera view. The special construction also separates the cables from the boom movement, which ensures that cables are not pulled on when the boom is moved. This helps ensure that the mic cable have a long life.

The cable is often the weak spot on these types of mics, but DPA's 1.6mm diameter cable is extremely rugged, does not become entangled, and is equipped with an inner core made of Kevlar that withstands rough pulls for long-lasting durability.

RETURNS

All returned opened items are subject to a min 15% to maximum 25% restocking fee.
All returned items can take up to 10-14 days to be processed.
If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, returns will be accepted for store credit (less restocking fee & shipping) within 30 days of invoice date.
RED ONE Music will accept returns for defective goods that you have ordered from us within 30 days of invoice date for exchange only.
All Returns must contain all associated packaging and materials (ie accessories, manuals, wires, etc). Merchandise that is not returned in brand-new condition, including damages, abuse, marks, showing wear, or with missing packaging or accessories, will be subject to additional charges. Shipping and Handling charges (delivery and return) are non-refundable, including any shipping fees not directly incurred that are part of a free shipping promotion. Any items packaged with software, including but not limited to, DJ Controllers, Audio Interfaces, etc., must be returned with the original software disc including serial number and proof of deactivation.
Returns or exchanges will not be accepted for the following types of products: Customized, special order, used products, clearance products, expendable items, cartridges, replacement lamps/bulbs, opened computer hardware, rigging supplies, tape, needles, cleaner kits, effect fluid or juice, software, gels, music, displays/televisions/monitors or parts (replacement, repair or item components) - these products are final sale.
Returns or exchanges for the following items will only be accepted if they are in factory sealed packaging due to hygienic reasons: headphones & microphones.
All returns made MUST be authorized in advance by a customer service representative - and paper work dispatched to you via email. Your RMA form must be included in the box and your RMA number located on the waybill / packaging. Any returned items that arrive without prior approval or missing documentation may be rejected by our shippers. Once received, returns will be processed within 5 business days.

If your parcel was damaged in transport, please visit our Help Center and submit a ticket with your order number and include a picture of the exterior of the box, the interior of the box, and of the damaged product. No claims will be accepted without these pictures.

If you happen to receive a parcel that got damaged during transport, we must obtain the the following pictures in order to swiftly process a replacement:

- outside of the shipping box along with a photo of the shipping label

- inside packaging of the shipping box

- the damaged unit itself

Refunds by e-transfer will be issued to the email address that is associated with your customer profile. The password will be sent to you in a separate email once the refund has been issued. Please note that a $5 service fee will be deducted from your total refund amount if:

e-transfer is not accepted in 15 calendar days
a change of email address is requested once the e-transfer has already been sent
a typo or error has been made in the email address that is associated to your customer profile

In store pick-ups

To be eligible for a store pick-up, please review the criteria below:
If your order is paid by credit card, you then qualify for a store pick-up. Note that once you pick-up your order, you must present a valid government photo ID as well as the original credit card used during the purchase. The name and address must match the name and billing/shipping address associated to the order.
If your order is paid by e-transfer, you then qualify for a store pick-up. You must present a valid government photo ID to match the name appearing on the e-transfer information.
If your order is paid by Paybright, you then qualify for a store pick-up. You must present a valid government photo ID to match the name appearing on the Paybright application.
